DICE OG Reading Groups and Individual Services
At DICE, we pride ourselves on offering reading groups that follow the
Orton-Gillingham approach. The Orton-Gillingham method is renowned for its effectiveness, particularly for students grappling with Dyslexia or language-based challenges. Led by seasoned educators with extensive elementary teaching backgrounds, our DICE OG Reading Program consists of ten levels, ensuring a customized learning experience for each student.

Group Support
Through a comprehensive reading assessment, students are thoughtfully placed into groups matching their proficiency levels.
Our group size ranges from 2 to 4 students. Each student is placed into a group according to the OG level determined by their initial reading assessment. Groups are not based on age or grade level but are determined by your child’s reading abilities.

Hands-on, Systematic Approach
Individualized Instruction: Teachers tailor instruction to meet the specific needs of each student, providing targeted interventions and support based on ongoing assessment of their skills and progress. Some students require individual attention, and DICE is here to support those students as well!
We're committed to assisting you in determining the best placement for your child's learning needs.

What is the Orton-Gillingham approach?
The Orton-Gillingham approach is a structured, multi-sensory method of teaching reading, writing, and spelling to individuals with dyslexia and other language-based learning difficulties. It is named after Samuel T. Orton and Anna Gillingham, who developed this approach in the early to mid-20th century.
Key features of the Orton-Gillingham approach include:
Multi-sensory instruction: This approach engages multiple senses such as sight, sound, touch, and movement to help students learn and internalize language concepts more effectively.
Structured and sequential: Lessons are carefully planned and progress in a logical sequence, starting with basic phonemic awareness and phonics skills before moving on to more complex language concepts.
Individualized instruction: Teachers tailor instruction to meet the specific needs of each student, providing targeted interventions and support based on ongoing assessment of their skills and progress.
Direct and explicit instruction: Concepts are taught directly and explicitly, breaking down complex skills into smaller, manageable components and providing ample opportunities for practice and reinforcement.
Cumulative and repetitive: Concepts are revisited and reinforced over time to ensure mastery and retention, with new skills building upon previously learned ones.
The Orton-Gillingham approach has been proven to be highly effective in improving reading and spelling outcomes for struggling readers.
